Was meant to be going to Portsmouth hospital today for a work training thing. Thought I would take my kit and sneak a session at Hayling Esso beach afterwards, but 10am, it's already blowing 20mph here, so sod that!

Texted a lame "punctured tire" excuse for Charlotte to pass on, and off to Shoreham again I went. Stopped off at Hove on the way but it was bolt onshore there so carried on to the Ham. Arrived around midday to be greeted with glorious cloudless skies, hot, and what looked like 5.2 weather, all good!!!

Was OKish at the start, just very fractionally not quite powered up enough though, like on Sunday. Meant I had to concentrate more on staying upwind than steaming full speed into gybes, jumps, and everything else. The 5.9 would have been slightly better maybe, probably too big though, and it was good enough on the 5.2 not to make me want to change. About 5.4-5.5 would have been perfect.

After about an hour/half on the water wind starting dropping off a tad. By the time I had changed up to the 30 cm fin it had dropped even more to proper 5.9 weather now. But with the tide coming up and the water state degenerating to the usual lumpy high tide crappy mess, really couldn't be arsed to re-rig, so called it a day.

A shame it wasn't a touch windier, then it could have been a real stonker of a session, what with the sun beating down from a perfect blue cloudless sky. Really did feel like being abroad out there.

So a good start to the summer so far, but it's got a lot to live up to compared with last year! Forecast not good for the weekend though, and then I'm in Newcastle next week, so fear that could be my last sail for a while. :(
